The house was fully renovated in 2016 - 2017, including new foundations. In particular, a successful restoration of the lower façade was carried out: the original blocks of natural stone (Bentheim sand stone) were exposed again. These solid blocks make up the lower part of the front of the house; You may still see the decorative chisel work performed in 1673 by craftsmen on these blocks. Any repairs and replacements were done in the same way (by hand) by restoration specialists in 2016!

Inside the house, the original wooden ceilings have been restored at three levels: if you look up at these ceilings, you will be seeing precisely the same beams and wood panels that the first owner saw in 1673. The wooden ceiling in the central hallway is fairly unique in Amsterdam, as it is a structure without beams. During the restoration of 2016, this level was fully strengthened with an invisible steel structure (on top), while maintaining the unique wooden ceiling full in view.

Furthermore, the 2016 renovation included state of the art isolation (insulated panels and double glass) and full replacement of all installations (electricity, gas, water, data, and fire detectors). Access is provided 24/7 with digital codes avoiding any issues with keys. Furthermore, the entrance is monitored by a safety camera for your security.

The building is a listed property on the national heritage list that is maintained by the Dutch Government (“Rijksmonument”); This status implies severe restrictions with regards to alterations of the property that were carefully observed during the renovations.
